One of the year's fun events is
the Chateau Libertas BBQ Championships that takes place at Bien Donné
farm in Paarl. The Ama Chop-Chop Winelands was one of 17 teams from around
the country that battled it out amid stiff competition. "Braaivleis"
is very much a way of life with South Africans who enjoy the great outdoors
for about 8 months in the year. It is even tradition to have breakfast outside
on the patio, in the garden or next to the pool. Dinner is almost always
enjoyed outdoors as well.
After the hard work that goes into competing in the championships, great
fun is had by all afterwards, when a "cork spitting" competition
is held - this was won by Ama Chop-Chop who will participate in the World
Championships in Germany next June! |
